Sketches: World

I made this drawing today, well, yesterday (Saturday) if you want to get technical. I like it quite a bit. I'm not sure if I'll keep it as is, or do something more with it. I suppose we'll see.
It's drawn all in ballpoint pen on card stock/thick paper. If you look behind at the other drawing in the top part of the image, that was its inspiration. I drew that Friday night while watching some French films.

Little Things

I took this photograph for my boyfriend. He is working on a comic and needed some photo-references.

It's a fact: I really like little things. My friend calls my collection my "little craps", which I suppose is accurate enough. Anyways, this is part of my collection of little toys and things. It's a great "idea box" because every item has its own story. A great inspiration.
I always like it when items or "parts" are laid out against white or a neutral background so that you can see each little piece.

Oh, here are some of my vert favorite photographs in which everything is laid out "just-so":

This AWESOME VW Beetle exploding Photograph

This retro VW advert.

This neat VW picture with all the parts laid out (This is most like what I was trying to emulate when I took the photograph)

And lastly, this AWESOME IKEA cookbook slideshow. I wish every time I cooked, it would look like this... oh well.

I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.

Handmade Galleries (Again!)

I will be going to the Handmade Galleries on Saturday for my vendor hours. Us artists spend a few hours inside or outside, if weather permits, promoting our goods and the store. It's fun... It's always a nice way to meet other artists in the store. Last time, an artist shared some of her crafting secrets with me, and I found out about "Moo" printing.

Fantastic.

I thought I should update you all with what my booth looks like now. It's nice and full! Check it out!

Check out those postcards! What a nice display they're in!

Here's a close-up of my embroidery hanging up:

My Valentine

This Valentines day was wonderful! My boyfriend and I got to spend the whole day together, and we got to spend yesterday together too! Among other things, I made him this paper-cut heart. It took a while, but it was really fun to do. The floor around my desk was covered in little bits of pink paper.

We also went to see the film "The Illusionist" by Django Films (they made "The Triplets of Bellevelle" if you've seen it). It was lovely. If you haven't seen it, I would highly suggest it! After that, we went and I treated us to dinner at "Curry Land" in Studio City, and that was fantastic too. Indian food is one of my greatest weaknesses.

This Valentines day scored 12 out of 10.

Box o' Bots

Have you ever dreamed of having your own ROBOT ARMY? A "Box o Bots" is a great way to get troops! Well, it's a great place to get paper robots. These cute little guys are my favorite little print-turned-3-D adventure. They all start out as prints (from a hand-carved block), are cut out, folded and glued, and turn into robots! Each robot is hand cut and folded with love and care. They make nice presents, desk buddies, and they can even hold business cards or signs.

They were used a couple years ago by 826 Michigan's "Liberty St. Robot Supply and Repair Shop" to advertise their Grand Opening. Each had an informative sign, and could be found around the Ann Arbor area. :-)

I Heart You

This little number is one of my newest additions to the Gallery. I tried my luck at "blackwork embroidery," and I really like how it turned out. I'm not one to go out of my way to make something too "I made this so that you'll buy it for the upcoming holiday" looking, but I thought this could be something cute for Valentines day.

I was going to give this to my boyfriend for Valentines, but I feel like I need to put more work in the gallery- I sold a couple of my favorite paintings/embroideries and have some space to fill.

Chicken!

I just finished this embroidery. I'd been working on it on and off for some time now, and I'm finally done. This was one of my first adventures using "Blackwork" embroidery, and I am really pleased with how this turned out. Besides, I really like chickens.

I hope you like it!
